5.5b yuan for major grain-producing counties

Having received the State Council's approval, the Ministry of Finance
plans to appropriate 5.5 billion yuan to award nearly 800 major
grain-producing counties in 2005 in order to ease their budget strain,
stabilize grain output and guarantee grain supply. The total output of
these big grain-producing counties accounts for more than 60% of the
national output, and they together provide more 80% of the nation's
commodity grain supply.
